Last Day of the month and sAsy Shutter photography's last blog on this thang called love.
We love so many different things and people that we forget to love the most important person, ourselves!
Over the last few years since my mother passed away, I have had to learn to love myself like my mama loved me. Wait why would I want to do that? Think about it, our mothers love us unconditionally, they correct us in love, shop for us, cook for us, and do so many other things that we do for the next person without thinking about it. Our first interaction with the idea of love comes from the women who birthed us.
I work, like so many of us, where oftentimes have toe-to-toe conversations that when finished leave me drained and needing to go lie down afterward. Each quarter so far this year I have taken mental health days to rejuvenate and get myself in a place where I can go back and do what needs to be done.
During this time, I do absolutely Nothing! Other than making sure the dogs eat and have water, I do nothing. I don’t pick up a camera, answer a call, post on social media, I just do nothing. I sleep late, get up eat, lounge in the hammock and read love stories on Kindle. I spend time with myself for a couple days then I start to work on things that make me happy. If it doesn’t bring me joy, I don’t do it. By the time I go back to work I have rested and recharged, and I can jump back in and tackle all the things that require my attention. But not only that I have a more positive attitude about it.
Whatever your recharge looks like carve out that time for you! Here is an article about self-love. Check it out.
So, spend a little time and love on yourself!
The featured couple for this blog is Carrie and Reuben. The best part of my, sAsy Shutters photography job is photographing repeat clients. These two probably laughed more at me than each other but that’s what I’m there for.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
